His Background
Born on 19th February, 1966 to Mr. Albert Ghan Duncan and Madam Georgina Enninful (all of blessed memory) there was no indication that the tender child will grow to become a savior to whom millions of destinies will be knotted. As a young child, he could sense there was a divine mandate on his life, yet he could not comprehend what it was. He was consumed by an insatiable quest to discover the purpose of God for his life on earth. This zeal drove him into the wilderness on countless occasions to wait upon God. As a result, he had a series of supernatural encounters with God.
Having realized that he was a messenger of the most high God to bring peace to humanity by reconciling all souls with God, he set out on a journey of fasting and praying since 1988, to receive the greatest knowledge and power ever descended to execute this onerous task. His ultimate goal is to overcome his flesh and allow the second in command of the holy trinity to use him as his temple to accomplish this. This book chronicles his birth, his journey through the wilderness and its attendant spiritual encounters, challenges, and the teachings that he has continuously delivered.
Samuel Ato Duncan’s journey has been an intriguing one. It tells of how humanity, by prioritizing the Kingdom of God, can be transformed into the nature of God. As Christ said, “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that l do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.” ( John 14:12)
HIS BIRTH
Ato’s parents gave birth to nine children; three are deceased leaving four males and two females. Ato is the 7th child, albeit, his conception and subsequent birth were surrounded by inexplicable circumstances. At the time, Ato’s mother fell ill. Much as his father did all to help find a cure for her condition, he wasn’t successful. Finally, he sent Ato’s mother to live with her parents so they could also try out other means of finding a solution to her ill health. Her condition was so severe that her parents were worried they might lose her. Her father who was a carpenter also lost hope in her recovery. As a result, he prepared a coffin awaiting her death.
Having left his wife with her parents, Ato’s father went back to his station. Seeing the wife was not recovering, Ato’s father lost hope and thereby took another wife. By this time, he had ignored Ato’s mother for months. After some time, Ato’s mother realized she was pregnant. This was shocking because she had not had4
any affair with her husband for months. Besides, what would be the reaction of her husband and immediate family who knew her condition at the time would not warrant sexual intercourse from her husband who had not even seen her in a long time?
Left with no choice, the parents took care of Ato’s mother till she gave birth to Ato. Throughout the nine months of conception, Ato’s father, who felt betrayed by the wife did not visit until after she had given birth to Ato. On his first visit after his wife had delivered, he saw something strange. It was believed that he saw the mark of the crucifix on the forehead of baby Ato. He then inquired from his wife, who corroborated the story by stating that Ato had the mark on his forehead from birth.
Interestingly, the birth of Ato marked a turnaround in the mother’s life as she recovered from her strange sickness. The father then took his wife home and later had two other children after Ato. They both lived happily together until death separated them.
This affirms the fact that Ato was not fathered by any man. His earthly father, Albert Ghan Duncan was just a caretaker. He named him because Ato came through the womb of his wife. God divinely separated the spouse for a brief period to fulfill his mandate on earth. Though seen as a rejection or neglect on the side of the father, it was a divine act.
The mark of the crucifix is another issue worth considering. There is only one man identified with the cross – Jesus Christ. The crucifix represents the power of Christ over death. It is significant of Christ’s victory over death and his sacrifice for humanity.
The mark of the crucifix on his forehead therefore marks him out as a temple of the Most High God.
SOME OF HIS SIGNIFICANT
CHILDHOOD EXPERIENCES
Ato had a very interesting childhood. When he was five years old, his mother gave him three pesewas for school. While at school, he did not spend any money. However, when he got home, the coins that he had held in his hand for hours that day had increased to four pesewas.
Also at age 12, Ato started robbing as a priest while playing with his peers. On one such occasion, he was believed to have prayed for them and three of them confessed that they were witches/wizards who changed into various types of animals and flew at night. This incident also attests to his spiritual powers at that young age.
MEETING WITH PROPHET JOSEPH JACKSON AMANKWAA
In his life journey, right after 6th form, young Ato Duncan secured a scholarship to study Medicine in Russia.
At the time, his elder sister who was a medical doctor living in the United States of America discouraged him from going to Russia.6
She recommended Canada or the United States. Ato therefore visited Wusorkrom to seek the counsel of God through Prophet Jackson Amankwa. On meeting the Prophet, the man of God told young Ato to forget about the trip. He revealed to Ato that God has a unique mission for him. Simple as it sounded, the Prophetic message impacted Ato immensely so he moved to Wusorkrom to spend some time with Prophet Jackson Amankwa.
Prophet Jackson was an end-time prophet who established the Wusorkrom community and the grotto. According to him, Jesus Christ appeared to him in a rare encounter and asked him to establish a community for Him. He declared that the community does not belong to him but to Christ.
It was said that he gave some prophecies to the then President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, which were ignored, resulting in his persecution and subsequent fulfillment of the said prophecies.
THE QUEST FOR SELF-DISCOVERY AND DIVINE ENCOUNTER
Growing up, Ato realized that there was something unique about him but he could not place a finger on it specifically. At age 22, while doing his national service at Sienchem in the Assin North District of the Central Region, he took some time off to fast and pray to God to understand his divine purpose on earth. On the 29th of July 1988, a voice echoed within him saying “You are a messenger of God to bring Peace to the world”.
Subsequently, he had another divine encounter where the voice came to him telling him that “there is nothing that God has created that is worth more than a human being. However, the inability of man to comprehend this truth has rendered man incapable of living up to his full potential”.8
On the 10th of November, 1988, while still waiting upon God, a voice came to him saying, “Now that you know yourself, separate yourself and fast for 40 days and 40 nights for the knowledge and power to be able to execute this mission.”
In obedience to the call, Ato left his parents’ home in Assin Foso in the Central Region on 13th November 1988 and headed for Tarkwa in the Western region. He engaged some of his friends to help him locate an ideal place where he could spend the 40 days in prayer. After combing through the bush for two hours, his friends gave up and returned to their village leaving Ato alone in the wild. He then decided to spend the night right where his friends left him.
While praying in the night, Ato said he saw his body lying down while his spirit was outside watching the body. He also saw an Angel standing close to his body. This gave him the indication that God had sent his angel to watch over him. Knowing that he was not alone and that God was with him, encouraged young Ato immensely.
On the 14th of November, 1988, while Ato was still in prayer, a storm arose, followed by heavy rainfall. The rain soaked his clothes and his jute sacks which served as his mattress. Here, he wept while crying out to his God. After a while, a hand touched his shoulders, but turning round, he saw nobody there. A voice thundered, “Now I have seen that you are bold. I make a covenant with you this day. Leave here and go to a place where you will have shelter to continue with your Prayer and fasting”.9
Ato then left the wilderness of Tarkwa and returned to his parents at Assin Foso. Because he gave out all his clothing to friends before setting off for Tarkwa, his only earthly possession was a white cassock which he was wearing. Ato has been consistent in his conviction that “graduating into the higher level of true spirituality is highly dependent on dedication, sacrifice, and self-denial”.
On seeing his son in a white cassock, Ato’s father became alarmed. He inquired where he had been and why he was in a cassock. Ato then shared his encounters with his father. Having been convinced, his father took him to Adansi Praso where Christ Mission church had a camp on top of a mountain on the 20th of November 1988. The father left him there to continue with his prayer. Three days into his fasting, at around 1:00am, a voice thundered from the sky saying, “YOU ARE THE CENTER OF AWARENESS”.
Pondering over the encounter, Ato’s father and brother visited the following morning where he narrated his experience to them. Much as they tried to explain what it meant; they could not convince Ato to accept their explanation. Ato spent the rest of the period waiting on God.
On the 29th of December, 1989 which was the last day, a voice came to him asking him to test the power he had acquired. The first voice asked him to command a stone to turn into bread since he was hungry. The voice also asked him to climb a tall tree and throw himself down to test the power. He then realized that the power was not there after all. He became disturbed.10
Another voice also came again saying, If you had requested Satan, he would have given you the power you need in three days. Interestingly, on his way down from the mountain, Ato met a mentally deranged man and instantly cast out the spirit of madness in him.
Three weeks after the mountaintop experience, Ato went back to Tarkwa to continue with his prayer. Four days into the prayer, a voice came to him saying “Your request has been granted.”
On the 1st of February, 1989 while lying in bed at home, Ato saw the heaven open and the knowledge descending on him like a dew. He also saw the Lord Jesus standing within him. Subsequently, the Lord Jesus took Ato through the bible, teaching him about Christianity and revelations into various scriptures from the bible.
He then realized that knowledge is progressively acquired hence the need to dedicate time and work on himself to acquire the knowledge required to execute the mission.
This accounts for his three and a half decades of fasting and prayer to receive the greatest knowledge and power ever descended.
His Prayer
Blessed Father, in whose presence none is found innocent,
Have mercy upon me and enlighten me with a clear, shining inward light of bliss, and remove all darkness within me.
Fill me with the greatest knowledge and power ever descended, so that I may stand worthy to execute the great and glorious duty you have given me.
Father, you are True, so let me be full of truth.
Father, you are Love, so let me be full of love.
Let me exhibit the qualities of yourself, so that I may appear before the world as the one you have sanctified.
Father, take my will and let your will be my will.
Father, I have come; send me.
